Ronald Dowdy is a career prosecutor who has worked as the District Attorney’s Office in Nashville since 2017. For years, Ronald led the Domestic Violence Unit and Crimes Against Children Division, the two largest teams within the District Attorney Office. In those roles, Ronald helped hundreds of women and children get justice and the resources they need to safely break free from the cycle of abuse, while holding their abusers accountable. 

Ronald has handled several high-profile cases, including the successful prosecution of the Waffle House mass shooter who shot eight people in 2018, killing four.  

Ronald has also worked to ensure that people caught in the justice system get the rehabilitation and restoration they need to get back on the right track. 

A native Nashvillian, Ronald graduated from Hume-Fogg Academic High School and Howard University before obtaining his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Ronald is a husband and a father to two beautiful little girls, Céline and Imara. 

In his time off Ronald enjoys a good cigar, golf, and very slowly completing his latest DIY project.
